JAIME RUIZ OTIS

Alejandro Palomino

Mexico

Alejandro Palomino’s work examines contemporary regimes of visual production as mechanisms of control and perceptual organization. Through video installations, manipulated photography, and generative systems, his practice intervenes in the technical conditions that structure images, exposing the ideological filters that shape their circulation.

His works incorporate elements drawn from cinema, landscape, viral dance, architecture, and surveillance systems. By bringing these visual languages into dialogue, they challenge their conventional functions and reveal the underlying machinery that organizes the visible, directs attention, and conditions perceptual experience within contemporary image production.

A graduate of ENPEG “La Esmeralda”, Palomino has exhibited his work at venues including Salón ACME, Casa Maauad, the Centro Cultural de España, Galería Concreta (Chile), ACME Brooklyn (United States), and the Beijing International Film Festival (China). He has participated in artist residencies at the Cité du Design in Saint-Étienne (France) and Casa Wabi (Oaxaca, Mexico). His work has received support from the Jóvenes Creadores program (FONCA), the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) Production Support Fund, and the Adidas Border Fellowship.

He received an Honorable Mention at the 10th FEMSA Biennial and the Artemergente Award. His work is included in collections such as those of the Museo Jumex and CONARTE. Since 2024, he has been a member of Mexico’s National System of Art Creators (SNCA). His practice also encompasses teaching, which he approaches as a space for exchange and critical reflection on the conditions and possibilities of artistic practice.

MARTA IBARRONDO

cryptids4.png

Marta Ibarrondo’s work is deeply rooted in her fascination with libraries—repositories of collective memory and silent witnesses to the evolution of human thought. For Ibarrondo, books are not merely texts, but profound impressions on the psyche that shape identity and perception.

She approaches literature both as a conceptual foundation and a physical medium, incorporating paper, acrylic, and found objects into her practice. Her use of multiple layers of paint serves to both obscure and reveal, reinforcing the gravity of the texts with which she engages. This layering functions as both a visual and conceptual device, ensuring that the words stand out with the weight they deserve—resisting erasure and demanding to be seen.

With meticulous attention to typography, color, and texture, she explores how visual elements shape meaning, distilling the essence of texts into stratified compositions. In doing so, she transforms the act of reading into a tactile and immersive experience, inviting viewers to reconsider the power of written language in shaping history, memory, and identity.

Marta Ibarrondo studied Visual Communication and French Literature at the University of Pennsylvania. After spending three decades in New York working in advertising, visual arts, illustration, and film, she relocated to Miami in 2020, where she currently maintains her studio.

Carlos Cañadas

cryptids4.png

Carlos Cañadas’s pictorial practice is structured around images understood as spaces for vision and the cultivation of poetic modes of thought. He works with unstretched canvases in large and medium formats, applying layers of latex, house paint, acrylics, and handcrafted oils. His compositions—shaped by influences from Neo-Expressionism, bad painting, comics, and manga—revolve around characters that embody dynamics of power, contradiction, and companionship.

He is currently undertaking a series of artist residencies in Mexico at spaces such as El Room, Rondo, and Cobertizo. He is a doctoral candidate at the University of Granada, where he researches the relationship between contemporary visual practices and magical and symbolic thought. Among his most recent solo exhibitions are Variaciones Dalton at the Palacio de la Madraza and The Searchers at the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia in Granada, among others.

He has participated in group exhibitions across various Spanish cities, including Jaén, Málaga, Almería, Mallorca, Cantabria, Valencia, and La Rioja, and has collaborated with galleries such as Renace and Fran Reus.

FERNANDA TELLEZ

cryptids4.png

Fernanda Téllez is a visual artist whose practice investigates flow patterns present in both the landscape and the human body. She establishes a dialogue between digital technologies and pictorial gesture, generating visualities that hybridize the organic and the artificial. Her work questions the binary dichotomy between nature and culture that has historically separated human beings from their environment.

A graduate in Architecture from Tecnológico de Monterrey (2023), her practice draws on territorial analysis tools such as global elevation maps and light maps that reveal water flows and urban traces. These digital layers are integrated with photographic records of the city and oil-based pictorial processes, articulating relationships between matter, body, and technology.

She has participated in group exhibitions such as Alteridades aprehendidas at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Querétaro (2024), Bruma at the Museum of the City of Querétaro (2025), and Serenidad para desconectar at Impulso Galería (Querétaro, 2024). That same year, she collaborated in the United Nations–organized World Habitat Day, creating a live painting at Palacio Conín in Querétaro. In 2025, she completed an artist residency at Lagos (Mexico City).

MARIA MÖLLER

cryptids4.png

Maria Möller is an interdisciplinary artist and photographer based in Philadelphia whose work distills narratives from lived events and examines how history and place can reflect our deepest longings and collective hopes. Her practice is collaborative, and she considers the process to be the most meaningful component of each project. Maria holds an MFA in Acting from Temple University and worked as an actor and director before transitioning into the visual arts.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries in the United States, Colombia, Iceland, and Mexico; however, she most frequently presents her projects in alternative spaces such as street corners, vacant lots, supermarkets, libraries, and motels. She has received support from the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, the Leeway Foundation, and The Center for Emerging Visual Artists. Her residencies include Mural Arts Philadelphia, RAIR (Philadelphia), A Studio in the Woods (New Orleans), Arts Iceland (Ísafjörður), and Casa Lü (Mexico City).

During her residency at El Room, Maria continues developing Cartografía del riesgo. This project uses a 1905 map of the Historic Center—created by a U.S. cartography company to assess fire risk—as a starting point for an exploration of personal and public risk in the contemporary city.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at prominent venues, including Drey Gallery (2024), the Toronto Reference Library, the Prototype Exhibition at the Interior Design Show, and the Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA) (2023), as well as Craft Ontario (2022) and Toronto's Drake Hotel (2021). To her, these pieces embody countless hours of craftsmanship and care. Committed to a sustainable practice, she works almost exclusively with reclaimed textiles and has now reached nearly 100% recycled materials in her artistic production.

Turkey

Artist Statement:

I am a visual artist from Istanbul. I merge painting with textiles to explore intersections of gender, culture, and identity. Through abstraction, I construct narratives that challenge patriarchy and amplify women’s voices against censorship. By integrating embroidery, lace, and handwork with oil painting, a medium historically dominated by men, I disrupt hierarchies of art and gender, reclaiming domestic crafts as artistic expression.

My family’s migration from the Iberian Peninsula to Turkey and my life between Mexico City and Istanbul shape my reflections on belonging. Satire, play, and collaboration weave my practice into poetic acts of solidarity and resistance.

Daniel Guana

Colombia

Artist Statement:

My artistic practice explores the human need and the actions undertaken to preserve, expand, and (re)affirm existence in the world, and how these concerns are intertwined with the phenomenon of pain.

It is within this framework that I observe and question humanity’s inherent and intense obsession with perpetuating life, regardless of whether doing so means denying, suspending, or disregarding the existence of others and their environment; using power and desire to transform territories in order to secure one’s legacy and permanence, while driving their relentless expansion.

The bodies in constant tension, the vast expanses of skin, and the powerful voices that inhabit my work are staged through poetic actions and metaphors expressed in drawing, sculptural installation, and video performance.
